Tamim Sibai’s paintings explore the complexity of the inner thoughts, emotions and practical side of the human being and its existence and its relationships to the surrounding through expressive portraiture. Drawing inspiration from everyday encounters and personal observations, he creates works that exist between reality and imagination. Thick, gestural layers of paint and vibrant color give his figures a powerful presence, while their quiet, enigmatic expressions invite contemplation. Each portrait becomes both a study of the sitter and a reflection of the artist’s own emotional and psychological response and questioning identity!
Sibai is a Berlin-based painter whose practice centers on contemporary figurative abstraction and neo expressionism. His work investigates themes of identity, psychology, mythology, and human perception, blending expressive painting with subtle emotional depth. Sibai earned his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Damascus University in 2014 and completed his Master’s degree in Painting at the Universität der Künste (UdK) Berlin in 2018. His paintings have been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions across Europe and the Middle East, and he has participated in major art fairs including MENART Paris, Cairo Art Fair and POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair.
